Education and technology: how Morocco is digitizing its schools
Morocco is undergoing a major transformation of its education system. The integration of digital tools in schools is becoming a national priority. Pilot projects, public-private partnerships, and a strategic vision aligned with the 2015-2030 reform are underway.
This reform aims to modernize Moroccan schools, make digital technology accessible to all, and prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow.
To understand the progress, challenges, and prospects, we met with Ms. Amina El Khadiri, an expert in digital education, who shared her analysis with us.
Focus on digital tools and pilot projects
Ms. El Khadiri affirms that Morocco is taking concrete action. The DigiSchool 2025 program, launched with Huawei Morocco, plans to:
- train 1,800 teachers in robotics, coding, and augmented reality
- engage 36,000 students in digital clubs
- equip 248 schools in 12 regions.
In addition, there are initiatives such as “Classes Connectées Dir iddik,” which equip rural primary schools with multimedia rooms, ensuring more equitable access to digital technology.
The 2015-2030 reform and its strategic vision
The 2015-2030 reform modernizes Moroccan schools. Digital technology plays a key role in this reform:
- developing students’ digital skills,
- providing ongoing training for teachers,
- reducing the gap between rural and urban areas,
- following the 2022-2026 roadmap for quality education.
This vision illustrates a clear desire to make digital education a driver of inclusion and pedagogical innovation, as well as the importance of strengthening the digital skills of businesses through an appropriate digital strategy in Morocco.
Digital infrastructure: connected classrooms and national coverage
The deployment of infrastructure is a priority. Several pilot projects have already equipped rural schools with multimedia rooms. However, Ms. El Khadiri points out that:
“Disparities remain. Some rural areas still lack reliable electricity or high-speed internet. Successful digitization requires a solid and equitable infrastructure.”
This observation echoes the challenges faced by Moroccan companies seeking to invest in reliable and sustainable digital solutions made in Morocco.
Teacher training: the key to success
Teachers are at the heart of digital transformation. With DigiSchool 2025 and Samsung Innovation Campus, training includes:
- coding and programming
- the use of robotics and augmented reality
- hands-on workshops and certifications.
The goal is twofold: to modernize teaching methods and give teachers the confidence they need to innovate in the classroom. It is the same logic that drives companies to focus on SEO optimization in Morocco and SME digital marketing in Morocco to remain competitive.
Public-private partnerships: an essential synergy
The private sector plays a key role in this transformation. Huawei and Samsung are examples of this, providing resources, expertise, and educational tools.
“These partnerships accelerate the digital transition, but we must ensure the sustainability of projects and equitable access,” emphasizes Ms. El Khadiri.
Similarly, collaborations between schools and web agencies in Morocco are enabling innovation and experimentation with appropriate educational tools, as is already the case in the field of e-commerce website creation and corporate SEO strategy.
Monitoring and evaluation of initiatives
Morocco is beginning to implement indicators to evaluate results:
- number of teachers trained and students involved,
- quality of integration of digital tools in lessons,
- impact on academic and digital skills,
- equity of access between urban and rural areas.
The challenge is clear: to measure not only the quantity, but also the quality and sustainability of this digitization. In the same vein, an SEO agency in Morocco helps its clients measure digital performance through natural referencing and analytical monitoring.
The digitization of Moroccan schools is advancing rapidly, driven by an ambitious national strategy and strong partnerships. But challenges remain: infrastructure, continuing education, maintenance, and regional equity.
As Ms. El Khadiri sums it up:
“Digital technology must be more than a tool. It must become an educational lever to stimulate creativity and critical thinking and prepare Moroccan students for the jobs of tomorrow.”
